Death by gun violence in the United States is 10 times greater than other high-income countries.  School shootings have resulted in 75 percent of high school students aged 15 to 17 cited mass shootings as a primary source of stress. During the past ten years, there were a total of 180 school shootings, with a total number of 356 victims.  As of last year, there were proposed laws to curb gun violence, among them Red Flag laws,  and the Bipartisan-Background Checks Act, which passed the House in February 2019 but awaits deliberations in the Senate.
